Another Display-recording Application Hits the iOS App Store

It's not a common occurrence for a display-recording application to become available in Apple's iOS App Store. It has happened before, but it was pulled from the App Store very quickly after becoming available. iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich has a popularDisplay Recorder application in Cydia, but that requires you to have a jailbroken device and isn't an option for everyone. 

Another display-recording application in the App Store dubbed xRec has been discovered by our friends at 9to5Mac. The application, by iOS developer Akın Öğünç, is available right now in the App Store for $1.99. If you'd like to grab it, we recommend grabbing it as soon as possible, because there's no telling how long it will be there.

The application offers a really flat interface with simple controls as you can see above. You’ll find a play button and a stop button. The play button initiates the recording, while the stop button stops the recording. At the bottom of the application you'll find tabs, such as theVideos tab that holds all of your video recordings that you can tap on to play:



xRec also offers a Settings tab where you can adjust a few options, such as the video scale, the video orientation, the sample rate, the audio channels, and whether or not you want to record audio with your screen recording:



The application doesn't fall short on design. The interface is surprisingly pleasant to use.

The application seems to run perfectly fine on our iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 both running iOS 6.1.2. A red recording bar will appear at the top of the display as your video is recorded.
