Apple’s Gold iPhone 5S revealed to be jokingly called the “Kardashian”

Apple employees supposedly had several humorous nicknames for the gold iPhone 5S which as many of you know was released this refresh as the new color option. Of the nicknames, one of the more entertaining ones was “The Kardashian Phone.” The nickname was in honor of the socialite Kim Kardashian as revealed by Nick Bilton of The New York Times and later corroborated by Matthew Panzarino of TechCrunch. According to Panzarino:

We confirmed the nickname with our sources. Yes, we asked this question of our sources.

Unsurprisingly, Kardashian herself was among those who obtained the gold iPhone 5S and boasted about it on Twitter.

As many of you already know, Apple introduced the changed up color options with its flagship iPhone model this year for the first time offering the new gold option. The iPhone 5S actually doesn’t come in black and instead is available in gold, white and “space gray.” Early indications point toward the gold iPhone 5S being a smash hit, with availability for the device showing up as extremely limited in what is presumably strong demand.
