'FreeSpaceCam' Puts Useful Information in the Camera App
When you’re out recording video or taking pictures in your Camera application, the interface immerses your entire display into a camera experience. You might never notice when you’re running low on storage, or running low on battery life, until it’s too late.
With a new jailbreak tweak dubbed FreeSpaceCam by iOS developer Bailey Seymour, you can have some useful information displayed in the Camera application while you’re shooting photographs or videos.
As shown above, while you're taking pictures, you can make it so that your Camera application shows you how much free space you have left (in GB or MB), and even how much battery life you have left.
If you're recording video, and not snapping pictures, you'll find an additional bit of information; the ability to show the time remaining until your device runs out of storage from recording video. This is an estimated amount, so it won't be 100% accurate, and it only appears after you've begun recording for at least 30 seconds. The tweak uses this 30 seconds of video to decide how much more recording time you have left:
FreeSpaceCam adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can enable or disable any of the individual information boxes from the Camera application. You can also enable or disable the tweak altogether. If you enable or disable any of the individual information boxes, you will need to respring your device for the changes to take effect:
