Apple May Have Solved iPhone 5s Stockpile Shortage
Are Apple's supply issues with regard to the new iPhone 5s finally resolved?
It appears to be that way, says Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster. The prominent industry analyst and resident Apple watcher asserts that Apple's supply is now keeping pace with demand. This, naturally, is great news for Apple as the holiday shopping season is officially set to commence in three days with Black Friday.
Gene Munster says he's been tracking the availability of the iPhone 5s in dozens of Apple stores (60 or so) on a routine basis in recent weeks. The results show that the iPhone 5s supply has "increased from 31% two weeks ago to 90% of the all the models for the various carriers."
By Munster's latest estimates, Apple is projected to sell 55.5 million iPhones in the December quarter.
Although we've been hearing that the iPhone 5c is struggling, today's report from Forbes doesn't make it seem all that bad for Apple's low-cost smartphone.
"While the iPhone 5c is definitely performing below what analysts thought a lower priced iPhone would do (because it isn’t really much of a lower priced iPhone), it is selling," the report reads.
