Samsung reportedly plans to unveil a Galaxy smartphone with a three-sided wraparound display next year.
Citing information from "two people familiar with the plans," Bloomberg said on Friday that the display would wrap around the edges of the phone, allowing people to read messages from an angle. Each of the three sides would also function independently.
No specific launch date has been set, though one of Bloomberg's sources said the phone is likely to roll out in the second half of 2014.
The new phone would use an upgraded version of the Youm technology employed in Samsung's curved-display Galaxy Round smartphone, the sources added. The display could pop up in Samsung's Galaxy S or Note models or debut in a entirely new lineup.
