While there's no public jailbreak for iOS 7.1 at the moment, that doesn't mean it's impossible to jailbreak. According to well-known iOS hacker ih8sn0w, his iPhone 4s running iOS 7.1 is already jailbroken.

The claim comes almost a week after iOS hacker Winocm posted a video on YouTube demonstrating an untethered boot on an iPhone 4 running iOS 7.1. Unlike Winocm, who uploaded a video to demonstrate the jailbreak on his device, ih8sn0w hasn't shown off any videos as of yet.

ih8sn0w did comment further, saying that he has no intentions currently of working on a public jailbreak for iOS 7.1, or iOS 8 for that matter:

Although the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s have been pwned on iOS 7.1, there still haven't been any notable claims of the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, or other iOS devices having been jailbroken on iOS 7.1. iOS 7.1 did patch the evasi0n7 jailbreak, so it's no longer usable on Apple's latest firmware update.

If you're running iOS 7.0-7.0.6, it's recommended that you stay there if you plan on jailbreaking, or value your current jailbreak.
