Apple Unveils a Video Highlighting the Company's Commitment to the Environment

Just a few days after announcing new sustainability projects in both China and the US, Apple recently unveiled a new two-minute video that highlights the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The video, which is entitled “Better Starts Here,” begins with a list of chemicals and additives such as BFRs, PCG, phthalate, beryllium, arsenic, lead and mercury, that the company leaves out of its products. Apple continued by stating that its smaller, more efficient devices use up to 59% less power now than they did in the past as well. The narrator in the video had the following to say regarding the matter:

The video then moves on to highlighting Apple’s new 40-megawatt solar plant in Hongyuan, China, which the Cupertino California company says will provide enough energy to power all of its stores and offices throughout the country. Apple’s hydroelectric plant in Oregon was also highlighted with the recently-announced purchase of 36,000 acres of forest, whose purpose was to help Apple develop sustainable packaging strategies. The video concluded by mentioning the following:

For those of you who didn’t know, Apple began the “Better” environmental awareness in April of last year with a video narrated by company CEO Tim Cook. The company has had a strong environmental initiative since then, one which appears to be ramping up significantly this year. We’ll have to wait and see what moves Apple makes next.
